Elvis died 30 years ago today. 16th Aug 1977
I can remember exactly where I was when I heard that tragic news of Elvis's death. It was relayed over the public address system at The Victoria Bus Station in London.
Everyone was shocked, people were crying and just stunned.
Now today, 30 years later, there are many fans of Elvis that still cant believe he has died. We have heard all the jokes and the gags, but no-one will ever come close to this legend.
RIP Elvis. The king will live forever. (in our hearts)

Well said Glenn.
I too will never forget the time the King died. I was in a place called Shanbally, just outside Thurles and near a village called Moycarkey when I heard the news on the radio. My mother and father broke down in tears as did I, it was as if a family member passed away.
I remember too that Radio Luxembourg played nothing but back to back Elvis songs and even stopped doing any advertising! They must have lost a fortune that night in much needed revenue.

Well said Glenn, and thanks for the bonus Elvis mp3 "Fool Such As I". I was on holiday in Auchinlarie Holiday Park, Gatehouse of Fleet, and had been doing a Cabaret stint that night, and got back to the caravan and turned on the TV for the news, and every channel was running the Elvis news item. None of us could believe what we were hearing. I think we kept watching the box hoping there had been some mistake -- but no, the king was gone. Glory Glory Halleluia - His Truth Is Marching On. RIP Elvis.

I too loved the Kind especially his country stuff. I was asked to sing some Elvis songs on the local radio here in France the other night when the local station did an Elvis special I finished with always on my mind and have to admit it was a bit emotional at the end.
