Hi all
Judging by the replies to this incident it seems every muso on the planet has had to put up with these idiots at some time - I know I have! I used to tell them "If I let you up I'll have to let everyone else up who asks" That sorked in most cases. Now I use the Public Liability angle. Having said that if the father of the bride at the wedding your'e booked at wants to do a couple of songs for the adoring relatives are you gonna say no? But check this - I was working solo one night (and I'd been thinking of looking for a female singer to do a duo thing) and this stunner gets on stage and says "I want to sing a song" (a bit rude and demanding but she was hot!) . We ended up playing together for 2 years! That's rock & roll

Hey There The thing I really hate is when they jump up on stage (if there is one) & try to sing into the mike with you. Now I use a wireless headset mike, fixed that problem real quick. Cheers.

I agree with Pat - its okay to permit a few recognizable singers to sing with us, at pubs but never at dances, What irks me most is when they ask if they can sing and then ask for the lyrics ! I carry my song books and they flip through the book looking for a song they can sing ! Some even ask me whether they can take a page home !!! GRRRRRRR !!!!!!! Some sing a few lines and ask me to take over at some verse, only to come back in at a key, unknown to mankind ! We call those who perpetually sing off key as " catch me if you can " singers. We use our benders and everything to sync with them , but alas.... they defy even insanity !! Its fun to hear how we musicians around the globe face these nigglies. We really are the same everywhere, no matter where we are and its thanks to Midi Mart that we are able to share our experiences. Thank you Glenn, Pat and all you great guys at MM
