So, I'm guessing that most of our Irish contingent should have heard the news by now;
an Irishman, Damien Leith, has taken out Australian Idol 2006!
What a great talent (and humble with it too)... up the Irish!
I'm usually not a fan of these sort of shows but in this case I make an exception because the right guy won!
Nothing plastic here, just great vocals, musical commitment and raw talent!
I bet it made some sort of splash over there in the Emerald Isle, especially around Milltown.
edit: then again... maybe not!

That sounds right, Franky. The media here can't seem to decide which one either!
Wikepedia says: Leith was raised in Milltown, County Kerry in Ireland.
Most other reports state:Leith is originally from Ireland's County Kildare, south-west of Dublin.
Maybe you can tell us?
The Idol final featured footage of family and friends having one hell of a hooley in the local pub. You know the scene; lots of black fluid being drunk, "we're proud of you, lad, good luck!", Aunty Eileen wishing him well etc etc.... looked like one hell of a party! ;D
It was HUGE over here amongst the ex-pat Irish, and we know plenty of them!

I am the HUGEST Damien Leith fan, he is raw talent and what makes it better is that he is a songwriter and a musician, I went to his website and he is now over in ireland touring and promoting the single Night of my Life...I wish him a huge load of succeess, I have 4 of his original songs not heard before on idol, and let me tell you he is talented not only at singing but his inspiring song writing abilities will see him go far and international...... I love the irish......so an Australian / Irish singer is right up my alley.
