A simple question.....what is the difference between a member and a guest member?

Hi Guilty, thank you for your question. A members is simply someone who has made the required amount of posts required to become a full member of the forum. Those below that amount are regarded as Guest members. To clarify: zero posts = Visitor. 1 - 10 = Guest Poster. 10 - 25 posts = Guest member. 25 posts and over = member. Your status change yet again as your post count grows. Hope this has helped.

Sixstring According to your profile you joined Aug 9, 2006, 3:04pm and with your first post showing as of Aug 14, I am at a loss as to how to respond to your question. Nor do I see any record of posts made by you prior to the joining date in your profile and as an administrator of this forum I have access to ALL details of every post, edited or deleted or otherwise handled by either regular members or members anyone else involved in the forum. So from this perspective I am having difficulty understanding how you could have made posts prior to your original registration with us. If possible could you please tell me of any other posts you made prior to August 2006 and in what section of the forum they were placed and I'll check further.

Thanks sixstringbing.
As you'll appreciate this is all rather perplexing, but hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it. Bare with me on this and I'll continue to do a few additional checks on the system.
In the meantime it would be helpful if you could give me an idea of how many posts over all you you made and were lost.

Does it really matter how many posts you have made? Didn't realise it was a competition........... It isn't a competition. Some posts have mysteriously disappeared and we are currently endeavouring to ascertain why this has occurred. If it was simply the case where they had been deleted, either by the person who made them or by a member of the moderating team, it would have shown up on the forum's security log. This log has been keeping records of all events that take place on the forum from the time it was set up to this current date. It will continue to keep such records for as long as the forum keeps going. Thing is there is no record or explanation of why or how these posts have gone. 'Tis a mystery. One possible scenario is we might have encountered a few gremlins who messed up some posts, but if this was the case they would appear to have moved on. EDIT: I have brought Sixstring's post count up to compensate for those he lost.

Hi all To join in if I may. Yes, one of your own posts to me disappeared if you remember, Pat, on my first try at getting a song up and running. The date was Sept 22. You corrected my feeble attempts and then your post just vanished. It's not an issue; I just thought at the time that it was an odd occurence. All day today, I've not been able to get onto the forum - don't know why, it just wouldn't open, but I've just come on now for six hours and it opened, no trouble. I even emailed Glenn earlier and asked if the forum had broken down or something. I think it's a probably a case of "These things are sent to try us." It's maddening though, when all the other sites work - even the midifiles section of this site - but you can't get onto the forum...it's my fix for the day. Regards Bri

Sorry to hear about these problems. What I am going to do here is lock this thread as it straying too far to another topic altogether. As these problems are apparently worse than first thought I will start a thread where we can address the issues more directly and hopefully resolve all concerns to everyone's satisfaction. Edit: Check out this link: midimart.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=problems
