Hi Paul,
Hopefully you or someone else will be able to help with this.
I would like to use my laptop at gigs but because of a slight but very annoying buzzing/humming/crackling sound when connected to my PA amp I really don't feel comfortable doing so.
Everything is fine while the backing track is playing but once finished, and during the pause before the next track, there's that annoying sound.
Interestingly enough this does not happen if I just use battery power, but unfortunately this option is not really feasible as I only get about an hour and forty minutes use from each charge.
I have tried moving the laptop as far away from the amp as possible but to no avail.
When I use a mini disk or MP3 player there's no problem but I would really like to use the laptop for certain gigs.
Any suggestions? Is there a filtering devise I can use?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Cool, Hp,Acer and earlier Toshiba are some I know that have earthing problems. You can buy a 3 - 2 pin converter if you are not handy with a screwdriver and side cutters.

Toshiba, I'll have to check on the model later, it's packed away for a gig tonight.
