G'day everyone, seeing that the cricket is nearly finished, and has been boring anyway, I thought it was time to start talking about the upcoming AFL season. ;D I follow the Kangaroos ( North Melbourne for all of us die hards) and hope that we can put in a much improved effort in 2007. Unfortunately our board looks like it could self destruct at any minute, with two feuding groups hopefully sorting themselves out a.s.a.p. I'm also interested to see how well the experiment in Queensland goes. The Kangaroos are the AFL's guinea pigs in another venture, and I hope that things go well, as we need the extra income to survive. Best wishes to all, Big Steve

Bring on footy season. Another 'Die Hard' here with a couple of links for you all. afl.com.aukangaroos.com.auSteve....maybe I've been yelling "GO NORTH" too often. I too hope the experiment works. Speak soon.

I've just heard the great news about the late board nominations for the Kangaroos. Let's hope that the members elect Ron Joseph, Mark & James Brayshaw to the board on Feb 28th. These three guys should bring some common sense to the board, and help to sort out the warring parties within it. This can't happen soon enough. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

Couldn't agree more Steve.........we need some North Melbourne (Shinboner) spirit on the board again. Glenn Archer supported the idea whole-heartedly this morning on SEN.

G'day all, it's great to see Peter De Rauch come out and state what he wants for the Kangaroos board. ;D Lets hope that the election sorts everything out a.s.a.p. I'm looking forward to watching the pre-season matches this coming weekend, as I need a footy fix! Let's hope that we see some great new talent on display. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

Needed a footy fix? Rolling (an undermanned) Collingwood on Friday was a great way to start. Young guys like Matt Campbell, Lindsay Thomas and Aaron Edwards look very promising. The crowd numbers up north were reasonably positive too. Let's hope we have a good year.

G'day guilty and all AFL supporters, isn't it good to have the footy back ;D I agree with all of guilty's post. The Kangaroos have started off well, but Collingwood didn't have their best side out there either. Fremantle will be a much greater test for the Roo boys. Let's hope that a united Kangaroos board is formed by the end of the week. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

I don't want to get too excited yet but 2 games and 2 good wins for the Kangas. The board room seems to be settling down and the young Kangaroos are playing a good style of footy against good opposition. Carlton next week in the semi-final (Family feud for me as my uncle was captain of Carlton in the 1945 'bloodbath' grand final). Hi to Big Steve and any other North Melbourne supporters out there. Hopefully I'm still happy this time next week. ;D Join in the chorus folks......it's a great game our Aussie Rules.

G'day guilty and all other AFL supporters. I'm also a happy roo boy this week ;D It's funny how the coach of a side is prepared to change his game plan when his job is on the line Let's hope that Dean Laidley doesn't revert back to his previous game plan, as the new one actually works! I hope that the Roos can make it through to the NAB cup grand final, but the Blues are also playing well so it should be a good semi final. Bring on the real stuff asap ;D Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day all, Brisbane and Carlton are through to the pre-season final. These two teams have tried the hardest throughout their matches and deserve to be there. The Kangaroos we're disappointing from halfway through the 3rd quarter against Carlton. You shouldn't lose games from 5 goals up nearing 3/4 time, but to not score for 30 minutes is ordinary Anyhow, let's hope the match next weekend is a good one. The real stuff is nearly here Talk again soon, Big Steve.

The Kangaroos were disappointing in the end after a great 3rd quarter. I watched what I could from stage on Saturday night (hard to concentrate on gig and footy) Hopefully we are more consistent during the home and away games.

G'day all, it was great to see a good match between Carlton & Brisbane in the NAB Cup Grand Final ;D I don't know if either team will be any good when the real stuff begins, but at least both teams have some promising youngsters who should develop as the season progresses. There's less than 2 weeks to go Talk soon, Big Steve.

G'day all, the biggest story of the year has happened, and we haven't even had the first match yet West Coast have finally found their balls and decided to make Ben Cousins accountable for his actions. If they had done this two years ago when they could've, then I wouldn't be posting this message. I hope that West Coast have done this for the right reasons. By this I mean that I hope they want to help Ben Cousins get back to playing good footy for West Coast. I suspect however that they may be making this decision to keep Chris Judd happy, and you can't really blame them for that. Let's see how this plays out over the next few days, as this is the biggest story since Wayne Carey couldn't keep it in his pants Talk again soon, Big Steve.

Yet more players involved in recreational drugs including ex. Eagle and now Kangaroos recruit Aaron Edwards. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I think Dale Lewis (shot down for his comments regarding drug use in the AFL) deserves a few apologies.

G'day everyone, I wholeheartedly agree with Guilty. The iceberg will be an almighty one, and don't forget that an iceberg is much larger below the surface than above it ;D Let's hope that the weekends matches take the focus away from all of the drug talk for a while. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day everyone, what an interesting 1st round of AFL ;D Let's hope that the 2nd round is just as good. Unfortunately for us Kangaroo fans the outlook is pretty bleak, as we let Collingwood play only one good quarter of footy, but that was enough to knock us off I hope that I'm wrong, but we look headed for the bottom two. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day everyone, at least I picked 4 winners in my footy tips this week ;D, because I only picked 2 winners in round 1 I hope that this means that I'll get all 8 winners in round 3 Anyway, Melbourne are gone, and so are Richmond and the Kangaroos. Essendon and Brisbane have been the surprise packets so far, but things can change quickly with a few injuries etc. Let's hope that round 3 is just as intriguing as the 1st two rounds. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day Big Steve.....I don't know if the Kanga's are gone just yet. I know everyone seems to think so but I'm trying to remain positive. In round 1 we should have rolled Collingwood who went on the following week to nearly beat the reigning premiers in Perth. Then we fell slightly short of a victory over Port who are a top 4 fancy. At least we're running and taking chances this year and our fitness should be better after a long pre-season. Maybe I'm wrong but I hope not.

G'day Guilty and all AFL fans, round 3 has been & gone, and there were more surprises for us. Who thought that the Doggies would be so poor, or that Carlton could do a Lazarus Richmond were very ordinary, while the Cats continue to impress. The Tomahawk could get a gig in the WWE if footy doesn't work out for him At least the Roos had a crack again, but I feel that we just aren't good enough to do any good this season. Sorry I can't be as optimistic as you are Guilty Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day all, finally the Kangaroos are on the winners' list ;D I hope that we can win a few more matches in the near future. Another great round of AFL, with Richmond & Melbourne looking like struggling to win a game for a while yet. The Hawks and Adelaide were both impressive, and the Bombers continue to impress. Let's hope that the Anzac Day match lives up to it's usual high expectations. Talk again soon, Big Steve.
