I bought a casio ctk-800 with usb. I'm looking for a midi program for PC to store, alter, and save files from the keyboard. I have tried Anvil Studios (free version) but only the melody is recording.
I'm probably doing something wrong, but if any of you can point me in the right direction here it would be much appreciated.
I also trialed Band in a box, but the rhythms from the keyboard can't be exactly duplicated.
I'm sure there is a simple answer, it's just eluding me at the moment.

i use cakewalk music creater3 it,s about £39 ,and includes vsc1.5 dxi plugin with gm2 extensions.i also have a casio .modelLK-90,as long as it is saved in format0 it should play fine.this prog will save in 1 or 0 format, and will accept most midi or usb inputs,to enable you to write your own tracks.when you say only the melody is recording are you playing the song in it,s entirety lead included?i mostly record the backing first, then on track4 prog 4 record the lead on to it,s own track.then you can adjust volumes etc, then save it in your format0,which will play on the casio.

I think you tried the wrong program from PGMusic. Band-in-a-Box is an accompaniment generator, similar to what your keyboard styles will do. It sounds to me that what you really need is PowerTracks Pro (also from PGMusic). It allows you to do both MIDI and audio file editing. You can find it at the PGMusic website. They also have a very friendly forum to help you out. And just because BIAB didn't do exactly what you wanted it to do, it definitely can create MIDI's using it's styles. I'll create arrangements in BIAB, then use the MIDI play feature of my Casio WK-3700 keyboard to play along with. It doesn't allow for live changing of chords, etc, but it works pretty nicely.
