Starting songs ??

We had a thread about songs that get the `crowd going`but what songs do you start with
We start with the old Elvis std `just can`t help believing`i have this tweaked up a little on tempo and so far it hasn`t failed me yet
Just interested ;D

I like to start with "At The Club by the Drifters", occasionally "Hello Happiness", which has a very similar rhythm. Drifters songs generally go down well.

drifter song's alwayes go down well, I always find if you stick to standed song's you can't miss I start myself with just help youself by tom jones

Depends on the venue, we usually end up starting with something like "Stuck in the middle with you", or "Do it again" (Steely Dan).

Lying Eyes (Eagles) usually does it for me but you do sometimes need to tailor the set content to fit the audience or venue. I agree Drifters material is invariably a sure fire hit with most punters.

Depends on the clientele more like!! I do an annual gig for a motorcycle club, i usually leave out The Drifters on that night!! ;D

For the group i,m in it depends on the job. Small lounge and the like the singer likes a medium bluesy thing like Something to Talk About. For a dance type job definately something upbeat. Get em going.

..... and base my sets around Liverace, Peter Allen, and Culture Club, I bet \.... (LOL)
