Hi All I wonder if you would be kind enough to post your set list's please.
If you have read any of my earlier posts you will know that I am a newbie starting out at gigging.
This would be of great help

I don't use set-lists as such, every gig is different. Even when I'm doing regular appearances at a venue I like to change it up every gig. If you want some ideas about repertoire check out my website at www.gibboco.com for the 2 main repertoires I use for live work. The best advice I can give you is to diversify... be broad enough in your song choice that you can handle it all (unless you're aiming at one particular market, that is), that's the way to keep the gigs rolling in. It's also a thing that helps you grow and improve as a player. We do all kinds of gigs; Rock'n'Roll, Latin, Country, Pop, Top 40, Pub-Rock, lounge-MOR etc. and can cater to just about any type of audience. Good luck and best wishes, Dave.

Like Gibbo, I dont have a set list. I chose my songs on the night dependant on the type and age of audience I have. If you try some heavy rock on an elderly audience, and they all put their hands over their ears, you know youve got it wrong, or if you try some 50s ballads on an audience of 21 year olds, they're gonna go.
Just make sure you have a repertoires which covers all possibilities, and play it by ear.

well most of the venues we play the 1st spot is usually more of a listening spot and the 2nd and 3rd are dancing spots so each set has a mixture of songs ie 50s to now but last 2 sest are more faster i use a minidisk so theres more than enough tracks to put on a disk for each set so u can pick n choose on mini disk you get about 20+ songs in stereo and double that if recorded in mono gibbo and geraint are right about being broad with your choice we do songs from elvis billy fury to the 4 tops erasure enrique ricky martin bellamy brothers just remember to keep it as comfortable for yerself. Oh we even do tina turner but without the dress LOL

I constantly change my sets to suit who I am playing to. No two gigs are the same. I was looking on Gibbos site and his repetoire isn't so differnt to mine. The key is to play popular songs you like and you will find you wont go far wrong. All the Best Mark

Great stuff guys . I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I understand your comments re different genres etc and the need to be flexible.
So my next question is .... How do you organise your backing tracks ?
How do you pick out what you will play , the order and of course how do you organise your backing tracks?

Hi Andy I have an Excell database of all my songs on my laptop. Each song is hyperlinked to the backing track, so I just click the link and hey presto.
