Hi everyone,
My name is Rose and I live in Ottawa, Canada.
Unlike many of the threads I have read so far (many of you who are long-standing musicians), I am new to the music world! I started out late in life taking piano at age 38. And 1-1/2 years ago (at 43), I started voice lessons. I love it! It is one instrument I can carry around and play anywhere.
I am still practicing ... there's just so much to learn about vocals. But it is so much more fun than my full time job of working with computers!! Music just relaxes the mind and soul.
I'm afraid that I am so new to the musical world that I will not yet have any midi files to share. If this is a problem, can you please let me know. I don't want to go against any rules of your site.
I have been looking for certain midi files to use when I sing. I have found a couple of them but am still looking for others (ie "I Believe In You" by Amanda Marshall or "Once You've Loved Somebody" by Dixie Chicks.) If I am allowed to ask for help or information, those are definitely the two songs I would be so appreciative to have the midi files for !! It will help me along.
Well, if you will allow me to stay, I would be very happy.
Take care and all the best from Canada!! Rose

Hi Rose.
Well as the saying goes, you can't teach old dogs new tricks - I must say you have proved that old cliche wrong. In the music world, age is not a problem..... From young (singing nursery rhymes) to the very old, (old crooners), as long as you enjoy it - Continue.
Music has added much to this boring dull old world of ours, and my saying is.... "If you like something - grab it with both hands". If you use it professionally to entertain others or just, sing in the bath, let the music play on.
As for the Forum rules, you have just added your mark.... All we ask for is a posting once a month, either helping others or starting a new thread of your own to encourage other members to post...... This is all we ask.
Add your requests to our requests page, sit back and wait.... There are no guarantee's but we have a very good success rate on our forum...
Above all - Enjoy and have fun.

Hi M.M. & Ironbaden (fellow Canadian!), I have to say that, after posting my own introduction, I took time to read others and the welcoming committee here is wonderful! No wonder there are so many people who want to be part of this forum! You make us newbies feel right at home. Thanks to you both for your replies. I have to add a wee bit to my intro. Hopefully you won't get bored reading this addition. Since starting vocal lessons, I feel the world has been opened up to me. I feel better about everything in my life, all because of music. I have even started to write songs, lyrics only. In the course of one month, I wrote four. And I will continue. My singing instructor, a very young 21-year old (who is successful in her own right as a singer/entertainer & who came in 11th 2 summers ago for Canadian Idol; she is touring now & again with a band across Canada and the U.S.) has taken one of my songs with me and placed music and voice to it! Wow! What an incredible feeling. If ANYONE thinks they can't do this (learn or play music or write it!!), they can. Give it a whirl!! It's so much easier than you think. One friend, who I met only this year, has been a huge help with his hints and tips to me on midi files. This is a small plug (as a thank you to him) for all his help to me in the recent past with regards to music. He's a phenomenal entertainer - people are literally blown away by his performances. If you are interested, you can hear 2 of the midi files he has modified/created with his own voice on his webpage at www.alleycatmusicman.com/av.html. He has been a one-man band for over 15 years and been in other bands for a total of over 20 years experience. I am hoping to get him interested in joining this forum (just give me time ;-)!! As for your site, UNBELIEVABLY GREAT! As a complete newbie in this field, I am learning in leaps & bounds. I can't wait to get my hands on more and more information from here!! And perhaps, I will be able to pass that along to some youngin' (or oldie like me) in the future. thanks - thanks - THANKS once again Rose (Ottawa, Ontario) <-- very happy new forum addition! ;D

Rose I have just replied to Ironbaden, as you may see, I have been in the business for too long, but have not used MiDI until recently. It is a marvelous tool and hopefully, as I have, this is the site to learn from. ITS SUPERB. Welcome Geraint

Hi Geraint ..
I appreciate your comments and your welcome. I'm looking forward to learning more and more. I spent the better part of today (off sick from work) to go through the full Technical questions section of the forum. Some things are beginning to take shape in my mind and are starting to make sense (allelulia!!)
Again, thanks ! Rose :-)

Hi Rose I have been a forum member since last October and have found this a great site for musical inspiration. I have had a go at making my own midis. I have listened to artists i wouldn't have known about and added songs to my repetoire i wouldn't have usually sung. Eveyone here helps each other out. So Enjoy yourself.

Hi Mark,
Nice to hear from you and thanks for your reply. I am definitely keeping an open mind to other artists I wouldn't have listened to before. I've already started. I agree... everyone here has been so helpful... so nice. What a great music community. (By the way, I have family in Bognor Regis ;-))
Have a great weekend! Rose
