nice to see so many members over the age of 30. I am now 40 and have been gigging pro since I was 25. I totally agree with some of the comments here about how it gets into your blood. I put far more effort into my music career than I do into my full time career (project manager). It's just a shame that there aren't enough gigs around to make this music thang a full time career.

I'm 64 in 5 weeks time and started learning piano when I was 7. Always had a piano in the house until I was about 35 then changed to home organ and then to keyboard - which is much easier to transport than an organ! Was a boy soprano singing at our local church but gave up singing when my voice broke. Just recently started having singing lessons to see if I can regain some of the ability I once had - but it's hard going!!

I just turned 46 today, and I've been gigging in night clubs and stadiums since I was 16. I've been the opening act for quite a few big names in the business, and I'm still looking for that good break.

What an amazing age range we have on the forum, Just think of all that experience, and of course all those stories we could tell.

I'm 53, got my first guitar for Xmas after I'd seen the Tommy Steele story, must have been around 1963, yes I know, sad isn't it, everyone else wanted to be a Beatle and I wanted to be Tommy Steele

I,m 57. I Started in 1964 at 14. I still play songs today that were top 40 then. Starting to have trouble with remembering lyrics which bothers me. Fortunately though the songs are so old no one else knows if I ad lib.

What a lot of youngsters - I'm 67 1/2 and am still gigging on a very regular basis. I sure don't feel that age and I keep getting told that I'm singing better than ever. I took early retirement when I was only 56 and decided to get full time singing & gigging work, having been a part-time muso for 35 years. Like Shyam I still have enough hair to colour and it doesn't hurt -- the legs hurt a bit though, but I use a high stool off and on -- probably next year more on than off!! I've always been music daft and still am, and just recently had to make the change from floppy discs to the Okyweb Compact Flash system, and am now spending a lot of time converting all my tracks, and getting used to the new player, so come on guys -- just keep going. I now play Bowling Club dances, Anniversaries, Birthday parties(50 and upwards), sheltered housing complexes, care homes etc., and have no plans to retire. When in Australia last year, my muso brother and I recorded a CD album of 50's and 60's stuff, and really enjoyed the experience. Must stop now and go and get my Horlicks!! G'night
Peter
